In the summer of 2022, I attended a workshop organized by Graphic Matters and led by lettering artist Rachel Joy. During the workshop, I managed to design, draw, and paint lettering completely by hand without any digital interference. Often during our designing hours, we tend to leave the paint brushes, chalk, and pencils laying on the sides of our desk to use instead the comfort of our computers. You know how anxious life can get without the comfort of ctrl-Z. However, working completely analog was really liberating and helped me embrace a way of creative thinking I hadn’t touched on in a while.
