Nightmares focuses on an otherworldly environment filled with personas and creatures from a nightmarish world. During the photography sessions, I tried to set a scene in which a terrifying moment was captured. What led to this moment, I’ll leave to the viewer. The project is inspired by hypnopompic hallucinations I've been experiencing since I was a child. These hallucinations occur during my sleep, right when I wake up in the middle of the night or early in the morning. My body is awake, and I'm able to look and walk around, however my mind is still asleep, causing distorted hallucinations of terrifying creatures, demons and psychopathic beings
A lot of joy in the project comes from building my own sets and creating a small piece of an imaginary world. Every object, wallpaper or piece of furniture that is placed in the world is specially adapted for these projects. Most of the time, I buy objects from secondhand, dress-up or hardware stores, and then I try to make them look old, dirty, or used.
